6 Foods That Will Help You Build Muscle

Posted by: BeeZee In: Diet|Health|Weight Training

muscle mass

Building muscle mass takes time. Sometimes it requires you to change your diet in order to work in more protein. You’re not going to build muscle in an effective manner if you’re just drinking energy drinks and eating Subway sandwiches.

You should work into your diet a lot of fruits and vegetables as well as the following foods:

Salmon

Many types of fish, such as salmon, are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Eating salmon can help you add more muscle and build more protein into your diet. Those Omega-3 acids also help build up your cell membranes and can help you recover faster from demanding workouts. If you’re looking to accelerate fat-loss than salmon is a great choice.

Water

It’s not technically food but water is still the most important building block for increasing muscle. Your muscles, tissue cells, ligaments, and blood all contain water or are substantially made up of water so make sure you keep drinking this liquid. You can’t beat the price of water either.

Many bodybuilders recommend drinking up to 10 liters of water per day. It will help you build muscle mass and also keep your muscles looking full. Don’t forget to keep that glass topped up!

Egg Whites

Most of the world’s most successful bodybuilders will incorporate eggs into their diet.

Egg whites are especially popular for their protein-to-fat ratio of 60:1, making them one of the most refined forms protein around.

An exciting new development is the fortified egg, which is used by many bodybuilders as a protein source. Egg producers in some regions have started adding flaxseed to the feed of their hens. This increases the amount of Omega-3 fatty acid in the eggs by up to 6 times.

Lean Red Meat

It’s time to splurge a little bit on that AAA steak that you always walk past at the grocery store. Lean cuts of red meat are great for mass building and are also rich in iron, protein, and zinc.

Avoid cheap cuts of meat that may be higher in saturated fats and balance out your red meat consummation with turkey, chicken, tuna, and other fish. And don’t forget those vegetables!

Beans, beans, the magical fruit

Fiber is a popular thing to consume if you’re hoping for regular and normal bowel movements while bodybuilding. Not exactly dinner table talk but it will help you nonetheless.

When some people think about bodybuilding food they immediately think about red meat and protein shakes but beans and legumes are an excellent source of protein and fiber.

Whey Protein

Protein powder doesn’t need to taste bad. Buy some berries and a few oranges and you have a tasty smoothie that will go great with your whey protein.

Taking in lots of whey is an excellent way to increase your protein intake throughout the day. The best part is that it’s easy to prepare – you can make a quick shake even on the busiest of schedules.

Those are just a few foods that will help if you build muscles better. What are your favorite foods for building muscle?
