Back pain is a common problem among many adults. Many people experience back pain because of their habits and daily routines. People nowadays spend long hours sitting in front of a computer while at work. We also spend some time sitting while driving to and from work or when in a bus or taxi. Then when we get home, we spend some hours more sitting while watching the TV. Sitting puts a lot of pressure on our back muscles, especially our lower back. No wonder many of us have sore backs.

Back pain can also be caused by injuries to the back muscles and even to the spine. When we work at home, when we lift furniture and heavy objects or when we lift weights at the gym, our back muscles can sometimes become strained that can lead to the development of soreness and pain. The first thing that you need to do is to do is to determine the real cause of the pain in your back. This is because different kind of back pain requires different kinds of treatment. Is it caused by a slipped or herniated disk? Is it because of a strained or even a damaged muscle or ligament? To know the real cause of your back pain, the best that you can do is to go to your doctor. Only your doctor can determine for sure the real cause of your problem. It is not advisable to self-diagnose and to self-medicate because you can only make matters worse.

Pain Killers

The easiest ay to deal with back pain is to take over the counter pain killers or otherwise known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. These medicines are relatively safe but that doesn’t  mean that they are free from side effects. Some OTC pain killers can increase a person’s risk of heart attack and stroke. So even though they can be obtained without prescription, you are still advised to consult your doctor before you take any kind of medicine. You don’t want to solve one health problem with something that can cause a bigger problem. You should use OTC pain killers sparingly and only as a secondary or even a last option.

Exercise

A safer way to deal with back pain is through exercise. And among the exercise routines available, one of the best for back pain is rebounding. The up and down motion of rebounding can strengthen weak back muscles that in turn can lead to better back support.
