Rarely do we like to hear the word ‘diet’. It has a tendency to invoke images of salads, soups and smoothies as well as an instantaneous feeling of deprivation and hunger.

However, ‘diet’ is not always synonymous with ‘denial’. Countless people who are determined to lose weight make one fatal mistake – they embark on a rigorous and highly restrictive diet that leaves them hungry and with an uncontrollable craving for those ‘banned’ foods.

The truth is (and most of us know this deep down) that in order to lose weight effectively, and keep the weight off, we need to change our entire lifestyle.

There is no need to say we can’t eat chocolate or have a desert after dinner. Life is about enjoying it, right? So we should never deprive ourselves completely. The only real route to weight loss is slow and steady – we can allow ourselves to have a bar of chocolate or bag of crisps with our lunch so long as we are monitoring what we put in our mouths the rest of day – and we’re exercising regularly!

This is where an acai berry weight loss diet shines. Unlike countless slimming aids that promise the world but deliver very little, an acai berry weight loss diet is based around losing weight the realistic way.

There are two primary ways in which an acai berry weight loss diet has been proven to work. First of all, the acai berry is naturally very high in fibre. Fibre is essential for filling out the stomach and helping us to feel full more quickly. It also takes longer to digest than most other carbohydrates, therefore helping to retain that ‘full’ feeling for longer.

However this does not mean that consuming a daily acai berry weight loss supplement will provide you with enough fibre for the day. A large part of our diet should be formed from fibre rich foods (and this includes all fruits and vegetables); the acai berry should only be seen as an insurance policy to make sure that we are feeding our bodies enough of the nutrients it needs.

The second way in which the acai berry can help us to lose weight is through its high vitamin content. A vitamin rich diet gives us energy. Have you ever noticed how tired and sluggish you feel after eating a highly processed and nutrient deficient meal? Part of the reason for this is the lack of vitamins consumed.

Conversely, if much of our diet is formed from foods that are high in a wide variety of all the goodness our bodies require, we will very quickly notice a rise in our energy levels. This increase in energy makes it easier for us to become involved in vigorous exercise – the sort we need to partake in, in order to effectively lose weight. It also makes it much easier for us to exercise for longer periods of time.

The acai berry is renowned for its vitamin content; not only does it contain a huge range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants; it also contains a surprisingly high volume of each.

Therefore, although an acai berry weight loss program is never going to have a substantial effect on its own; if the acai berry benefits are embraced properly, it can be very effective as part of a realistic weight loss plan and overall lifestyle change.
