Alcohol May Be Your Problem

September 4th, 2009

It’s The Canyon in California and you or your loved one has a problem with alcohol, it’s the best place to go.  The pictures make it look like a resort and it has the same ambience, but the fact is that The Canyon will offer alcohol rehab that will set the life of an alcoholic straight again.

The success rate of The Canyon is off the charts.  If you get alcohol treatment from The Canyon, you will leave with a new lease on life.  You will feel better and have better relationships with your family and friends.  It will change your life.  It’s that simple.

But, alcohol treatment is embarassing.  If you are functional alcoholic, you go about your life with ease and may even be successful in your marriage, job, and in sex.  But, you are killing yourself inside and you want to maintain your position in the community.  It’s time for private alcohol rehab where nobody knows.  They’ll just think you are on vacation.

The statistics for drunk driving are sickening.  That’s why it’s so important that you or your friend get straight.  You don’t want to have that on your conscious if you hurt somebody due to driving while drunk.

Working out in the Water

August 28th, 2009

I saw a video this week about a college football player who has such leg strength that he is able to jump out of a 3 foot deep swimming pool and onto the side of the pool.  Wow!  That’s amazing.  If you don’t believe me, try it!

Everything that you do in water is tougher.  That’s why a water treadmill makes so much sense to work out on.  Imagine running in the pool.  It’s really weird when you do it, because you are in cool water and you start to sweat.

Aquatic therapy equipment is also great for coming back from an injury.  Did you ever see how thoroughbred horses train?  The best trainers have them come back from injury by training in swimming pools.  It’s easier on the joints and builds muscle faster.  Same with humans.

And, the great thing about a Swim Spa is that it takes up so much less space than a traditional swimming pool does.  You really need a big back yard for a swimming pool and if you live in the north, you can only use it for three months anyway so its hardly worth it.  The Swim Spa can be placed in your basement and you can use it year round.

If it’s good enough for a thoroughbred, it’s good enough for me.

Shop Online For Best Deals

August 26th, 2009

The great thing about the internet is that it makes shopping so much easier than in the past.  There’s no need to get in the car and drive around to countless stores to find the best deal.  A site like Shop Wiki does all that work for you by scanning the internet for the best buys.

One of the products that I always think is such a ripoff are fragrances.  My wife wears Shalimar perfume and it’s not cheap.  When I travel internationally I try to buy some at duty free stores, but that doesn’t always make sense to carry back either.  This is a great store for buying fragrances and health and beauty aids.

Needless to say, being a woman, she also needs a lot of hair care products.  In fact, when we travel she carries an extra piece of luggage just for her hair care products.  I call it her “comb bag” and that’s not far from the truth as there are 16 different combs in there.

Hey, I’m not immuned to wanting to look good too.  I mean, working out isn’t all I do to look good.  I need to take care of my skin and hair so I don’t stink and look like a shriveled up old dog.  That’s why I also like to purchase men’s grooming products like men’s hair gels and mousse from Shop Wiki.

If you want to get the best price on products, then I highly recommend you Shop Wiki!

Best Deals on the Internet

August 22nd, 2009

The great thing about the internet is that it is so easy to comparison shop on the web.  There was a time when it just didn’t make sense to spend the time and the gas money to check out prices at various stores, but the web has solved all this and made all of us more price conscious.

My daughter was complaining recently about the showerhead at our beach house.  So, I went to Shop Wiki and was able to compare all the various showerheads that are available.  I mean, who knows anything about showerheads?  Now, I know more than I need to and my daughter loves how the water comes out thus resulting in her taking 30 minute showers instead of 25!

She has also been touting the benefits of coconut oil for health and beauty.  So, while on the site, I picked up some coconut oil beauty products for her.  I just can’t get those coconuts to grow in Pennsylvania.

My wife is a health nut like me.  She runs five miles every morning.  Now, I’ve been after her to do more weight training.  She’s already thin enough, but she needs to get more muscle tone.  She’s all concerned about her weight, but I’ve been preaching that it’s body mass that matters.  So, while on the site, I was able to find a body mass index scale at Shop Wiki.  The darn thing even has a remote.  She’s going to love this.

Then, let’s not forget about numero uno — me.  I need stuff too, but I’m so busy with work, working out, coaching, and playing the drums in my band that I don’t have that much time to go to the mall.  I’m a pretty macho guy, but I love men’s grooming products, especially the old fashioned men’s shave sets with the brush and all.  I feel like I’m back in the 1920’s whenever I shave with it.

The benefits of Drinking Wine without the Alcohol

August 11th, 2009

We’ve all heard about the benefits of drinking a glass of red wine every day.  Studies show that consuming red wine daily reduces reservatrolheart attacks, controls cholestorol, and reduces depression.

It makes sense.  Many of us eat better balanced diets than the French or Italian populations, but the average life span in France and Italy exceeds that of the United States.  The answer may lie in reservatrol.

Reservatrol is the chemical found in red wines that has such a positive affect on the human body.  But, many athletes don’t want to drink red wine every day due to its high calories and the alcohol content.  Now, there’s a reservatrol supplement that you can add to your diet which does all the good that red wine does without the bad.

There have been a lot of reservatrol reviews done which tout the benefits of taking this vitamin supplement.  Now, it’s time to find out for yourself by buying the reservatrol from an online vendor.

Reservatrol vitamins won’t get your girlfriend tipsy, but it may help her keep up with you on the track!

Mesothelioma Can Be Cured

August 1st, 2009

It is very possible to survive mesothelioma, but you have to do the right things.

Years ago, getting the word of a mesothelioma prognosis was equal to a limited lifespan.  Very limited.

But, many new inroads have been made into curing this awful disease that is caused by exposure to asbestos.  We all know that asbestos is a huge problem and that any building that has deadly levels of asbestos must be repaired.

That is because asbestos can cause peritoneal mesothelioma and other forms of this dreaded disease.  The great thing about the site survivingmesotelioma.com is that it gives a free book if you have recently received this diagnosis.  I highly recommend that if you or a loved one have this disease, then you should get this book now.

It could save your life.

Yoga or Pilates? Which is Better for You

July 27th, 2009

Of course the long politician-esque answer to this question is “it depends what your goals are”. For example, yoga is known to relax Pilatesyou and may be more beneficial if you suffer from stress. It also has a greater focus on improving flexibility so if you’re doing lots of other exercise that tightens your muscles (for example cheerleading or football) yoga could be the right choice for you.

Joseph Pilates was a ballet dancer, but struggled with the intense physical commitment that went with it. So he invented an exercise regime to strengthen his body to allow him to cope with the pressures presented by his ballet training. While we may not all be budding dancers, performing exercise that helps us cope with the daily pressures of life, seems a very good idea to me.

How does it work?

Firstly, there are the 6 core principles: Breathing, Centering, Control, Concentration, Flowing Movement and Precision. This means you do every exercise slowly, in an exact position, always extending from your middle which stays strong and static, and always with the effort on the out-breath. In essence, it makes every movement significantly harder (and consequently more beneficial) than if you didn’t apply these principles.

Secondly, the areas of the body you work are important. Traditionally at the gym we move our head and shoulders back and forth off the mat to work our abdominals. But how often do we make that movement in real life? Almost never. So why do we spend so much time training it? Of course the answer is because the stronger the abdominals are, the more they hold in the flabby bits. But doesn’t it make more sense to strengthen the muscles we use all the time?

The Transversus Abdominus (or TVA) is a very large muscle that resembles a tin can with the back attached to the spine, and the top to the ribs. It protects all the vital organs inside our midriff and also, this is the important bit, it ensures we can stand up without falling over, or sit up without flopping sideways. How often do we do that in real life? Almost always. Pilates trains the TVA which in turn strengthens the muscle - helping deter back pain, hip pain and even knee and ankle pain by making us stand correctly. At the bottom of the TVA are your pelvic floor muscles, also focused on in Pilates, which are important for giving us posture and protecting our hip joint particularly.

As well as training these core muscles, Pilates uses stretching and mobility exercises to improve your posture. It teaches you balance to help strengthen your core and thus build your protective inner barrier. And it uses the power of breathing to both get the most out of your exercises and help you concentrate and relax. As Pilates appeals to more people, so a wider range of exercises have been introduced that work all the muscles in the body, but still always deferring to those 6 core principals.

In summary, yoga has centuries of history behind it and is a very enriching way to spend an hour. But regular Pilates sessions will ensure your joints have the very best chance at staying pain free as you get older.

Control Dust Control Asthma

July 27th, 2009

My daughter plays softball with a girl who is a great pitcher.  She has an array of pitches and is a fierce competitor.  My daughter plays center field and is the relief pitcher.

If it were baseball, my daughter would get to pitch a lot of innings, but in softball, the same girl pitches almost every game.

That was until recently.  The starting pitcher has been having a lot of asthma attacks.  As the weather gets hotter, they seem to be happening more often during the games.  It’s pretty scary when it happens.

Her family lives along a busy back road and there is a real need for road dust control at her house.  In fact, I took her home the other day after practice and noticed that the family leaves the windows open.  This could be a problem for dust abatement in the house and perhaps that increased dust entering the house is causing her asthma to worsen.

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve begun investigating this problem more and plan to talk to her father about it as he is a friend of mine.  I think if they practice more dust control in the house, maybe that will help the pitcher’s asthma problems.

And, that could lead the team to more wins!

Stop Menopause Bed Sweats

July 20th, 2009

When women go through the change of life, a lot of weird things happen.  menopause woman

While their husbands may go out and buy a shiny new red sports car, women go through other issues.  The kids are almost grown and they may feel less needed.  Their husbands don’t pay the same level of attention to them and they may seek out an affair.

A friend of mine has a wife that is going through the change of life.  He told me the other day that he can’t sleep in the same bed with her any more.  When I asked why, he said that his wife is sweating at night.  By the morning, she stinks really bad, almost as bad as a skunk.

I told him that she probably has menopause night sweats.  Now, I’m not a doctor, but I’ve read about this and I knew that she might be of that age (he’s much older than I am).  He asked his wife and she confided that this was the issue and she was embarassed to talk about it with him because she was afraid he wouldn’t find her sexy any more.

If your wife is suffering from night sweats, the answer just may be the BedFan.  You can find it on BedFan.com.  My friend got it and now he’s no longer sleeping on the couch and his wife smells great all night long.

He said the BedFan has really helped his sex life too.
